The Colastic Moon Temple is a story that Joe La Fountaine told his
Winston Middle School students annually around Halloween. As
generations of students came and went over his twenty plus years, the
story lived on. Many students or staff heard of it before they ever actually
heard it told.
Much of the story is based in fact from events that occurred in
LaFountaine's youth. The location still exists just one mile from his current
home in Green, Oregon. Many of the characters from the book still live
and work in the area.
Joe La Fountaine earned his B.S. in Education from Oregon College of
Education in 1981 and his M.S. in Educational Policy and Management
from the University of Oregon in 1995. He was the principal of Winston
Middle School for four years and recently has taken a new position as the
principal of Waldo Middle School In Salem, Oregon.
